Brittany Dennis: Lit Review #4

Children’s Literature Review #4

Your name: Brittany Dennis

Title: Yellow Star

Author: Jennifer Roy

Age of reader: 9 years and up

Why you chose this book: I chose this book because it was a book that was geared toward and older audience and because it was a narrative about history. The book deals with more advanced issues and needs to be read by children of this cognitive level, which is an area that I haven’t reviewed during this semester’s literature reviews.

Plot summary: A four-year-old Jewish girl is living in a ghetto with her family during World War II. Her family manages to hide her from the Nazi’s for three years and eventually her and her family survive the war. The story is told from a child’s point of view and offers a unique view of a grim era.
